Founded in 1977, the Nature Reserve of Sixt-Passy is the largest in Haute-Savoie with 9200 hectares of unspoilt land. At altitudes of 900-3100 metres, the variety of landscapes and the position of the massif can account for the enormous wealth of plant and animal life. Over 800 plant species, some of which are very rare, can be spotted. You can see numerous animals such as the bearded vulture, golden eagle, ibex, chamois and the marmot (in summer).
