Wandering around the old town of Taninges, you’ll discover some fabulous buildings (16th – 19th century) around the marketplace: fountain, ancient middle-class houses, arched passageways, a chapel and an ancient bridge passing over the Foron.
Taninges is located at the crossroads of Annemasse / Sixt et Cluses / Thonon and it is where the Giffre and Foron rivers meet. Throughout the centuries, trade in this town has boomed. The town centre was formerly located in the hamlet of Flérier. It was then moved and centered around the marketplace, the plans haven’t changed since 1730. Come and explore Sainte-Anne Chapel, the middle-class houses, the old humpback bridge, the Foron docks and Saint Jean-Baptiste Church.
